Lease conditions on flooring
Many leases include a specific clause requiring carpet, or hard flooring fitted with an approved acoustic underlay meeting a stated impact sound reduction figure. Checking your lease before choosing a floor covering avoids fitting something that later has to be removed.
- Check your lease for a specific flooring or acoustic clause before ordering materials
- Some leases require freeholder or management company approval before hard flooring is fitted
- Lease conditions can specify a minimum acoustic underlay performance rather than banning hard flooring outright
