Functional training and free-space zones
Open functional training areas, used for sled pushes, battle ropes or bodyweight circuits, take a mix of impact and abrasion that differs from a fixed weights rack, and a thicker rolled rubber or a purpose-made turf-and-rubber hybrid is often specified where sleds are dragged across the surface repeatedly.
- Abrasion resistance checked where sleds or equipment are dragged across the floor
- Turf strips inset into rubber flooring for sled zones, where used
- Seam layout planned to keep joins away from the heaviest traffic lines
