Visiting a Flooring Showroom: What to Bring and Ask

How to get the most from a flooring showroom visit or a mobile showroom at home: what to bring, which questions to ask and what happens after you choose.

For anyone about to visit our Gillingham warehouse, or book the mobile showroom, who wants to leave with a clear decision.

A showroom visit is where most people narrow down dozens of options to one or two. It goes far better when you arrive with a few simple things, because the right floor depends as much on the room and the people using it as on the colour.

You can visit our warehouse on Gillingham Business Park to browse the range, or book the mobile showroom and we bring carpet, LVT and laminate samples to your home so you can see them in your own light.

What to bring with you

  • Rough room sizes, or a sketch with door positions; we measure properly later
  • Photos of the rooms in daylight, including skirting and doors
  • A cushion, paint chip or cupboard door sample to hold against the floor
  • A note of who uses the room: pets, children, wheelchairs, home working
  • Anything you know about the floor underneath, such as concrete, boards or underfloor heating

Questions worth asking

Ask what the floor will be like to live with, not just to look at. How does it clean? Does it suit the room's heating? Will it need an underlay or a levelled base? Is it available supply only or supply and fit? Those answers affect the real cost far more than the price of the sample itself.

If you are torn between two options, take the samples home or choose the mobile showroom, because floors look different under artificial showroom lighting and in a north facing room.

What happens after you choose

We arrange a free survey to measure the rooms and check the subfloor, then send a written quote showing the floor, underlay, preparation and fitting. Nothing is ordered until you have agreed that quote, so the showroom visit commits you to nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an appointment to visit?
You can call ahead to make sure someone is free to talk you through the range, which gives you more time with the samples.
What is the mobile showroom?
It is a home visit where we bring carpet, LVT and laminate samples to you, so you can compare them against your own rooms and lighting.
Can I take samples home?
Ask on the day. Seeing a sample in your own room is often the quickest way to decide.
Will I get a price in the showroom?
We can give guidance on the day, but a firm written quote follows the free survey, once the rooms are measured and the subfloor checked.
