Specify the use of the room first, then agree the vinyl, preparation and fitting programme.

Commercial vinyl flooring needs choosing for the activity, cleaning and foot traffic in each space. Kent Flooring Warehouse supplies and fits sheet vinyl and safety vinyl for business premises across Kent and London. We assess the base, discuss joins and edges, and plan access before giving a written quote. A decorative reception floor and a kitchen floor do not need the same specification.

For help comparing specifications and understanding the different coverings, read our commercial vinyl guide before arranging an installation enquiry. For booking, tell us the type of premises, the rooms involved and whether the building will remain occupied during the work. We can then discuss a survey against the actual job.

Sheet vinyl flooring in a working interior

Sheet vinyl or a safety specification?

Sheet vinyl provides a continuous covering with planned joins rather than a field of individual planks. Safety vinyl adds a slip-resistant specification for uses such as commercial kitchens, healthcare and wet areas. Product selection must account for the expected conditions; a floor's appearance alone cannot tell you whether it suits a wet working room.

We supply and fit Polyflor and Altro commercial sheet flooring. The relevant model, cleaning instructions and fitting system should be identified in the proposal rather than relying on a brand name as a substitute for a specification. Where the brief calls for a particular slip rating, discuss the manufacturer information at the survey.

The joins and the perimeter belong in the scope

Commercial safety installations can include hot-welded seams and coved edges. These details need planning around doorways, fixtures and the shape of the room, not adding as an afterthought when the sheet is already down. Tell us about fixed counters and equipment so the extent of the work is clear.

A repair to existing vinyl raises different questions from a complete replacement. We need to consider the cause of damage, the condition of the base and whether the existing product can be identified. Share a product code or sample if available. Do not assume that joining a patch over an unresolved moisture problem will provide a suitable result.

Make the base ready before fitting starts

Old adhesive, uneven concrete and moisture can affect a sheet covering. The survey establishes whether uplift, smoothing, plywood or a damp-proof membrane belongs in the work. Our preparation service allows these stages to be discussed alongside the finished vinyl, with the necessary work itemised rather than treated as an unspecified extra.

The programme must allow for the chosen preparation and adhesive to be ready before the space returns to use. A floor that can be walked on is not automatically ready for every commercial activity. We agree the sequence around the selected system and access arrangements rather than giving the same installation duration for all premises.

Occupied buildings and commercial handover

Phased and out-of-hours work can be discussed for offices, retail, hospitality, schools and healthcare. Explain which routes have to stay available and what can be cleared before each stage. The plan should distinguish the work area from the areas still in use, particularly when a business needs to keep operating.

Our in-house fitting team handles preparation and installation. RAMS, CSCS and public liability documentation can form part of commercial arrangements. At handover, cleaning and aftercare need to follow the specified vinyl rather than a generic routine. If the same project includes a domestic area, identify it separately so its use is considered rather than copying the commercial specification throughout.

Frequently asked questions

How much is commercial vinyl flooring?
The product, area, uplift, base preparation, welded joins, coving and access programme all affect the quote. We assess the premises before pricing the complete installation; there is no universal price for every commercial floor.
How thick should commercial vinyl be?
Thickness is only part of the specification. The intended use, wear performance and slip requirements matter too. Compare the named product's technical information against the room rather than choosing by thickness alone.
How do you join commercial vinyl flooring?
The selected system determines the seam detail. Our commercial safety fitting includes hot-welded joints where specified, with the layout and perimeter agreed as part of the job.
Can damaged commercial vinyl be repaired?
An assessment is needed first. Product identification, the extent of damage and the reason it failed determine whether a local repair is appropriate or replacement and preparation should be considered.
